Reducing the company’s energy footprint
Wishing to affirm its commitment to sustainable development, Cap Ingelec has naturally put in place various measures to limit its own environmental impact
Cap Ingelec equips its employees with a fleet of 145 vehicles emitting an average of 98 g/km for private vehicles, and 94 g/km for utility vehicles. On a rating scale of 1 to 7 (ARVAL CO2 report 2018), we are in category 2 in terms of pollution, which makes Cap Ingelec an example in eco-transport.
Cap Ingelec seeks first of all to reduce transport and thus our impact by encouraging videoconferencing, which is deployed in all 9 of our agencies. Our indicators reveal a significant reduction in our professional travel.
To prepare for the future presence of electric vehicles, the company has provided its employees with charging stations (EVlink by Schneider Electric).
Cap Ingelec, in its sustainable development approach, has set up a system of selective sorting of its ink cartridges. As an engineering company, Cap Ingelec produces a large mass of paper documents (plans, reports etc…). In order to limit this recourse to printing, the company has set up an intranet allowing the global storage of documents, and has positioned default settings on the printers favoring printing on two columns and/or on both sides.
Water is an essential resource, but not all water is equal in terms of environmental impact. Bottled water degrades our carbon footprint because of its packaging, the displacement from the point of collection to the point of consumption and the waste generated at the end of the cycle. Cap Ingelec has installed water fountains equipped with a micro-filtration system in each branch (tap water). Recycled reusable glasses have been offered to each employee in order to limit the use of single-use plastic glasses.
Cap Ingelec, together with a doctoral student, has set up a thesis on the energy efficiency of Datacenters through a CIFRE research program, in collaboration with the University of Bordeaux. The fruit of this research has enabled us to improve our energy performance proposal to our clients, by improving parameters not classified in the definition of the PUE.
