A highly secure digital campus in Madrid
The DATA4 Group continues to expand its geographical presence in Europe, with the development of its campus in Italy and the opening of a fourth campus in Spain in 2020. The project aims to create a 7,310 m² data centre with 13 MW of IT capacity by 2023-2024.
The group has opted for a location in the municipality of Alcobendas, a suburb near Madrid, due to the presence of numerous telecom access points and its proximity to the centre of the capital.
The new DATA4 campus covers an area of 2 hectares.

CAP INGELEC and its subsidiary CAP DC ESPANA have been mandated by DATA 4 to transform a warehouse into a datacenter.
This Engineering & Construction project is divided into 3 independent phases of 3 MW each and 1 phase of 4MW. In parallel, we were charged with connecting the site to the source substations of the electricity supplier IBERDROLA. This includes the installation of 4 high voltage lines (20kV) in urban areas (including motorway crossings) over a length of several kilometres, which will eventually supply 13 MW IT to the DATA 4 datacentre.
The first 3MW IT tranche has just been delivered, at the end of 2020 with the commissioning of the first two high voltage lines (5 MW).
The project has been designed to allow the highest possible energy efficiency taking into account local climatic data, the level of redundancy desired by the client (TIER III), and operating constraints.
In order to carry out this rehabilitation project, our teams had to innovate and meet numerous technical requirements. In particular with the reuse of part of the existing building (façade preserved). Cap Ingelec perfectly masters all the professional problems linked to turnkey projects (definition of the need, technical definition, realisation, comminssioning,…)
We have integrated and carried out the entire design in BIM (Building Information Modeling) from the design phase. The BMS (Building Management System) (customer interface software and technical boxes) were also designed in our workshops, by our teams.
We bring all the technical skills needed to build a datacenter with a performance requirement that has attracted the largest international data processing companies. Our “turnkey” offer guarantees our clients consistency in their project, as well as control over deadlines, costs, quality and energy consumption.
